Is Your Husky Dangerous? Print E-mail
Written by Jessica Swartz

Due to the high cost of dog bite liability claims, some insurance companies have blacklisted certain breeds and are refusing to provide homeowners insurance to those who own these dog breeds. Among the top blacklisted breeds is Siberian Husky, Chow Chow, German Shepherd, Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinchers, Wolf Hybrids, and many more.

Our home owners insurance is provided by Farm Bureau.  My agent actually laughed when I asked her if Siberian Huskies were on their dangerous dog breed list.  "No, we do not consider huskies a dangerous dog breed".  Said Brenda, my Farm Bureau agent.

I know huskies aren't dangerous, so why are they on this list?  I have no facts to support this but my guess is, too many kids approaching them recklessly.  To all you soon to be or current Siberian Husky owners, give your agent a call and make sure your dogs are in fact covered in your home owners policy.
